Every few weeks someone asks me about partner codes. Usually the same question: do they give you free trades or discounted spreads?
No. AvaTrade doesn't charge commission on forex. You pay the spread. The spread is the fee. A partner code won't affect it.
The code 128979 activates the bonus program. Bonus money added to your account based on deposit size. That's all it does.
How much do you get?
Put in $1,000, receive $200 bonus.
$2,000 adds $400.
$5,000-$9,999 earns you $1,000 bonus.
Maximum bonus is $14,000 for deposits above $100,000. Most people won't hit that.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Goes to £11,200 at the top.
You can open an account with $100. Bonus requires $1,000 minimum.
The code field isn't obvious
When you're signing up. After you enter your phone number, look for small text that says "Have a Partner Code?" with an arrow next to it. Click it. The field expands. Type **128979**.
People overlook it constantly because it's hidden.
If the system rejects it, don't panic. Complete your registration. Message your account manager before you deposit. Request partner code 128979 be added. They do this manually all the time.
There's a catch with the bonus
A trading volume condition applies.
Roughly 10,000 units traded per $1 bonus. A $200 bonus means trading 2,000,000 units before that $200 unlocks. Takes a while if you trade small. Regular trading gets you there sooner than you'd expect.
Your deposit is yours. Take it out anytime. The bonus stays locked until you hit the volume.
One thing worth knowing: locked bonus funds check here still contribute to your margin. This lets you take bigger positions. Newer traders benefit from that extra cushion.
